We are very excited to introduce to you the work of the Quilt Divas who have collaborated with the Ithaca, NY, chapter of Dining For Women, to produce a dynamic work of fiber art.

This creative group of artists has transformed the DFW core belief of “empowering women” into a nine-panel piece of art, “Women Empowering Women.”

The Divas chose to create a multi-panel quilt with its panels depicting organizations supported by DFW.  Each Diva researched her "favorite project" and used her talent and expertise with her panel to convey what she had learned about women in Mali, Kenya, Uganda, Thailand , Peru and more. (For more information about the women who worked on this quilt please go to their website) You may download DFW's new "Women Empowering Women" art quilt brochure HERE.

The fabric art piece creates a wall hanging 96" wide and 44" high and depicts eight organizations in Africa, Asia and South America, as well as one panel representing DFW.

The “Women Empowering Women” art piece will travel to other chapters and cities in th

e USA and will appear in quilting exhibitions and professional magazines. Please contact Miriam Bisk at miriam.dfw@gmail.com or 607-257-6929 if your chapter would like to host an event around this amazing Fabric Art piece.

For anyone that would like to have this wonderful piece of art we are selling ONLY 200 tickets for a drawing at $50 per a ticket. The Dining for Women Chapter in Ephrata, PA held its first Used Book Sale Fundraiser at the Muhlenberg Township Spring Flea Market on Saturday, May 15. Volunteers collected books for six months and were on hand to participate in the book sale. The chapter raised $275 to help support the operating costs of Dining for Women! The event was such a success the chapter volunteers scheduled it again for September 11.

San Francisco Bay Area Dining for Women chapters joined forces on April 20 for a potluck dinner event to feature Lending Promise’s Meg Taylor and to publicize DFW in the area. Karen Frederick and Jennifer Moyen-Logan, co-Chapter Leaders of the first San Jose chapter, managed the event with the organizing help of passionate DFW members and other area Chapter Leaders.

The event was a huge success, attended by over 80 people and raising over $1700 for Lending Promise as well as a generous $500 donation for the DFW organization. Featured DFW Chapter Leaders Polly Ferguson and Susan Negrin spoke briefly about their trips with Dining for Women to Kenya and Uganda. Camille Smith, co-founder of Global Women’s Leadership Network, shared the impact of networking and educating women to be leaders in opening remarks. The event sparked excitement in over 20 first time attendees—women who asked to either join existing chapters or start new ones.

San Francisco Bay Area chapters have multiplied in the past 18 months, with nine new chapters in San Jose, Castro Valley and Santa Cruz, including two "at work" chapters and DFW’s first couples’ chapter!

Not only are the chapters active, but members and chapter leaders are also involved at a national level in DFW!

Karen Frederick, Jennifer Moyen-Logan, Lauren Wilson, Laurie Flesher, Luc Moyen, Mary Force, Yvonne Ryan, Susan Negrin, Cari Class, Vicki Alexander, Joani Brown and Tamara Scanlon are enthusiastically involved in the following committees: Advisory Council, Program Selection Committee, DFW Website Design & Maintenance, Fundraising Committee, National Leadership Plan implementation, Western Region Management and Chapter Leader Training course.
